Youth Mental Health First Aid Course

This 14-hour course is delivered face-to-face equips adults who teach, care for and support young people, with the skills and confidence needed to recognise and respond to a young person experiencing a mental health problem or crisis.
Participants learn about the signs and symptoms of mental health problems in adolescents; how to recognise and respond to an emerging and worsening mental health problem and the interventions and supports available health problem or crisis. 2-day course led by Mental Health First Aid Instructor.
WHAT THE COURSE COVERS
The course is based on guidelines developed through the expert consensus of people with lived experience of mental health problems and professionals. It provides an overview of mental illnesses, risk factors, prevalence, and impact before taking a much closer look at the following mental health problems: Depression, Panic Attacks, Eating disorders, Anxiety, Suicidal thoughts and behaviours.
